Although I like the microwave, extremely disappointed that it just died after 2 years. For the money it cost should have lasted longer. All my past microwaves lasted longer.

I had this microwave for 2 years and 3 months. I thought it was going to explode on me. It made a terrible clanging noise accompanied by fire flashing out of the inside right side. There are actually burn marks on the panel. Lucky this happened when I first turned it on, so I was able to stop it quickly. And fortunate that my electrical engineer brother was here to unplug it for me. He deemed it too dangerous to leave it plugged in even when it was turned off. My previous GE microwave lasted 16 years. They don't make them like they used to.

Very Uneven Cooking, Not for Popcorn

Worst microwave I've ever owned. Cooks unevenly cold or frozen areas in food. Other areas just overcook if you add time. I have a silicone microwave popcorn popper/bowl that I have used in 3 preceeding ovens. Absolutely, CANNOT make popcorn in it in this microwave. If you love burned, nearly on-fire popcorn, you'll love this microwave.

This countertop microwave oven is great looking and easy to use. The smaller style fits nicely on the countertop yet still fits a large dinner plate. Easy to understand directions for the clock function, timer, etc. I don't use defrost with a microwave so not sure how well that feature works.

Perfect size for the counter area. Our last GE countertop micro did not steam up in the inside like this one does and am not sure why. This particular one, despite what you are heating, collects moisture on the inside door glass. Not saying this is an issue, just an observation when comparing our 10 year old appliance to this one.

Had the second of a Williams Sonoma countertop microwave both of which rusted on the interiorwithin three years!! I've been a GE appliance lady for years so happy to return to this powerful and attractive "machine".

The size of the microwave fits the small place in the corner of my counter. It works great. I appreciate that this small size microwave has a mute button. There are multiple cooking functions that make it very useful.

Great looking sleek appliance and good price. Nice button features for cooking and I will use them all. The motor is a bit louder than our other one and the beep startled our pup, but we™™ll all get used to it! I like the count down feature while it cooks.

The turn table motor is VERY noisy. It clatters. Right out of the box. Home Depot will NOT take this microwave back and there are NO repair parts sold by GE. To get a warranty replacement, we are required to buy and pay for another one, then submit for a rebate on the noisy one. Obviously we are skeptical of the quality. What happened to Final Test at manufacturing?
And, we bought this (noisy) microwave to replace an identical unit that started to intermittently simply STOP running. We are back to using that one, and this noisy one sits in our basement.

I really didn™™t even want to give this 1 star. I give it zero stars. After 2 1/2 years it caught on fire through the vent on the right side. The object in the microwave was microwave safe, it was only set for 3 minutes, and the inside was totally clean. Zero reason this should have happened and now not covered by the warranty. I™™m so glad I was right there! How many times have I walked away from the microwave to do other things? I hate to imagine what could have happened! The button to open the door stopped working after 2 years. I would have to pull on the door while pushing the button to open it. I really cannot recommend and will probably look for a different brand to replace this one.

The microwave has all of the presets that I use, dinner plate, reheat, vegetables, defrost, popcorn. It's a top reason that I chose this and that I am loyal to Ge appliances for their quality. However, the most recent appliances have had build issues with parts being out of alignment. On this microwave, the door is not aligned with the body. It's disappointing to see the lack of quality control.
Other than the build, the microwave works really well. It heats items evenly and does not burn them.

The microwave has many presets that I use such as "vegetable", dinner plate","reheat ", "defrost" and they all work well without overheating the item. I am loyal to Ge appliances as they last long and build quality is superb.
My recent purchase of this microwave and my washer and dryer have lacked quality in the build. Parts have been out of alignment which doesn't affect the function, but it does show lack of quality control and that's really disappointing.
On this microwave the door is out of alignment with the body. There is an option to attach a photo. Sadly the link does not work or I would have attached a photo. My microwave doesn't seem to be a "one of". If you look at other reviews with photos you will see the door alignment.

The new unit replaced our previous GE microwave, virtually the same size with a 1000 watt capacity. The old unit gave us good service for about 10 years. While the new unit only has a 900 watt capability, we don™™t find any significant difference in cooking times or food completion. My only criticism would be with the control panel. I think a little backlighting on the panel would make choices easier to see. The font could also be a bit larger.

We have only had this for a few weeks, but so far absolutely satisfied with it. It fits in perfect with our GE range and refrigerator all in stainless. It™™s also much quieter than our other microwave, which is just a couple of years old.
The price was surprisingly low for the apparent quality of this product. It really does look great in the kitchen.

First: I have had this microwave oven for less than 24 hours now, so this review has nothing to say about durability or longevity.
We have however, put our new oven through it paces:
- The first test was the ™Popcorn™ cycle conducted last evening. Black Jewell microwave popcorn was placed in the turntable and the microwave button was pressed. The machine came alive and 1:35 was on the clock. After several rotations within the oven chamber the bag expanded and kernels began to pop. With about 10 seconds to go it was apparent the this was an insufficient amount of time to complete the task. The ™Add 30 Sec™ button was pressed and once again, for a total cooking time of 2:35. This is consistent with the 16 year old Magic Chef this unit replaced.
- The second test was thawing and cooking chicken breasts for my dogs. The thawing took 40 minutes and the cooking took an additional 10 minutes. This is consistent with its predecessor.
- The third test came this morning to reheat a cup of coffee. The ™Beverage™ feature was used. The clock read 1:00 minute of time. The ™Add 30 Sec™ button was used to stretch that to 1:30. Again very consistent with my expectations for performance.
Overall assessment:
- Looks good
- Very functional set of features
- Good performance
One initial annoyance. The buttons are all printed gray on black, while aesthetically pleasing they are somewhat difficult to read. This may become less of an annoyance over time as I learn the physical locations of the buttons I use.
Great bang for the buck.
Next test: How long will it last?

My 26 year old GE microwave suddenly quit working! I read consumer reports and alot of reviews of different brands. I needed a specific size to fit in a custom kitchen space. Only GE had one that fit my needs. GE was rated by consumers real well. There were other brands that were a little higher rated but who heard of a microwave lasting 26 years! I decided to stick with GE! They have a good track record, and cant beat the value for the quality and features.

We love our microwave after using it for 2 months. We liked this model due to the brand, the size, and the one push +30 second button. Despite its relatively small size, we can still fit our dinner plates and it heats up quickly and evenly. No complaints so far and if this proves to be reliable then it will check all our boxes!

We love the muting of beeps and sounds! That is why we purchased, but beyond that it's an average microwave. We dislike that you have to close the door to turn the light off - there is no way to quietly close the door, it's quite abrupt. The control panel is VERY hard to read in low light - so be aware that at night it is very hard to read the text/numbers as they are not lit up. So, the start and cancel keys are often mistakenly pressed. Be sure to read the manual carefully...as it has a detection sensor that won't allow the microwave to turn on if the door is not opened and something is placed inside. For example, after a long pause or if disconnected from power. We could not turn the microwave on, and thought it was defective, until we read about these features in the manual.

Only bought the microwave because of it's dimensions. It worked as expected. Until we discovered the rust on the inside! The paint had been flaking. The most disappointing part was GE basically saying "tough luck" when I brought the complaint to them. GE always made quality products in the past.

I purchased this microwave because it was small enough (with required clearance) to be used in space we had, while still be big enough to fit a larger dinner plate for heating. It has fantastic features, everything we wanted in terms of setting, including "add 30 seconds" , express cook, and, most importantly, the option to turn off the sound. Performance, however, has not been impressive. It is less powerful than our former microwave so things take longer to heat -- we expected this, so no big deal. The thing that surprised us is how loud the microwave is when on! We were able to turn off the sounds, but not the sound of it working. So, it is fine, especially for the price, but ...it is loud!
